Each module is comprised of 4-5 videos with a downloadable PDF workbook. All the videos are pre-recorded, so you can watch them at your own pace, and closed captions are available on each one.
There is a dedicated email address where you can contact me with any questions you might have and to get advice on your weaving. Students are also encouraged to share their work in the Community Group as they work through the course.
And you have lifetime access to all course content, so you can come back to it as many times as you need!
Floor Loom - This course works best for floor looms with 2-4 shafts, and can also work for looms with more shafts, and table-top looms as well.
Warp Yarn - You will need a durable linen or cotton warp yarn. I am using 6/6 linen warp.
Weft Yarn - You'll need a good supply of sturdy rug yarn for this course, preferably at a DK or Aran weight.
Weaving Tools - a shed stick, shuttles, a bobbin, a comb, a tapestry needle and sharp scissors.
Warping Tools - a warping board or mill, a raddle, clamps and cross sticks.
This floor loom is ideal for 2 or 4-shaft counterbalance floor looms.
However with a little adjusting you can also follow this course on loom with more shafts,
a jack loom, a countermarch loom, a table loom, or even a sturdy rigid heddle loom!
This course was created with beginners in mind, and you should be able to follow it even if you’ve never woven on a floor loom before!
However I recommend trying out weaving on a simple loom first so you can get a bit of practice.
Yes, the techniques covered here will work for countermarch looms as well.
I recommend following the process outlined in Module 2 and setting up your loom with 4 shafts.
I can offer more advice on this during the course.
Yes, you can adapt the techniques here for an upright or high warp loom.
No, all elements of the course are pre-recorded so you can watch them at any time.
Modules become available every two weeks at 9am BST - but you don't have to watch them straight away!
Each module comes with a downloadable PDF workbook, so you can have step-by-step instructions and notes to hand while weaving.
However, the videos themselves cannot be downloaded. Our videos are hosted on a platform similar to Youtube - if your internet connection is not strong enough to watch Youtube, it will not be strong enough for this course. Please check this before you sign up!
